disco love is a new series of fabulous disco records that you have probably never heard of. all superb records presented to you by the legendary al kent from the unlikeliest disco haven of glasgow.

2009 was a great year for these days records, and 2010 promises to be even better. the platform stood out for its innovative yet functional club sound and unique artwork concepts. the new year begins with a new split series under the name universal consciousness, based on the idea of connection between all things, and that all things have been coordinated, and they combine to make up the same universe. the first part is dedicated to two very different takes on spiritual, cosmic space techno. on the a-side argys >sometimes im blind< generates a long and uplifting emotional climax, which features a solo that will forever stay in your heart. the track was recorded at the end of 2008, and despite numerous offers to release the record elsewhere, nothing was finalised and the recording never saw the light of day. soon after the birth of his own label, it naturally fit the platform and seemed a perfect way to start the new year. on the flip side, sheffield born alexander ross, brings forth a cavernous techno piece awash with reverberation and spacial echos that brings a driving yet non the less emotionally captivating moment perfectly in balance with the depth of the a-side.

>funky junkie< pumps up the tempo for a full-on ride through funked-uppercussive techno. centered on a groove of big heavy kicks and jacking snaresthis inventive vocal track joins the dots between early chicago house and techno.
>debug< completes the ep by taking a more stripped back approach, laying out a minimized tech house outline around which is added a combination of a bigbouncing bassline and layers of tribal horns, firing percussion and rising sirens.

hello and welcome to the new decade. we are kicking off the 10s with a smash from the 00s - as a hinge between the decades, so to say. adas >lovestoned< was everybodys favourite track from her fabulous >adaptations< album, a milestone of romatic techno with vocal support by raz o hara. one of this songs biggest admirers is president bongo of gusgus fame. together with jack shidt he forms the dynamic duo gluteus maximus which already caused a stir with their amazing remix for sigur ros >gobbledigook< on kompakt pop. their lovestoned remix is astounding, too. sex, modern, efficient without losing one gramm of soul. the flipside is taken care of gui boratto who is never far away when techno meets pop in such a sensitive way. his remix makes all great things from the original a bit greater and its pushing the romance factor to the max.

the 9th release on excentric muziks off-shoot rekluse brings with it a very welcome edition to the rekluse family, we are sure matt cooper is somebody who you will be hearing a lot more about in the nearest future, that is if you havent heard of him already...

adam beyers drumcode is synonymous with the global sound that is techno. never content with resting on previous achievements, drumcode has taken on a fresh relevance in 2009 with a string of standout tracks from a new wave of producers like paul ritch, alan fitzpatrick, joseph capriati and tiger stripes to sit alongside established names like joey beltram, joel mull and adam beyer.

the hidden cameras never fail to capture the imagination. orchestrated by leader joel gibb, their live spectacles are unconventional to say the least ? everything from blindfolded band members and string players to go go dancers shimmying alongside gospel choirs. the hidden cameras latest work, origin: orphan, is equally ingenious as the four previous albums.

smaul recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of acid pauli, only. however, creative times need being used and martin gretschmann - aka console - member of the notwist - alias acid pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year. on smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. acid pauli confides more & more in a certain house rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. astonishing things emerge out of acid paulis musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit. nymbiotic (a) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve - seasonly peppered. symbiotic (b) rests bit on minimal house, but acid pauli never relied on that genre. thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.

for the second cassius records and to carry on with the youth speed, trouble, cigarettes adventure we give you four remixes done by talented producers across europe from milano italy… reset! we met the three kids from reset! in magazinni generale while playing, their set was powerfull but also full of respect and influences from hip hop, soul and dance music in general, we finished our sets back to back and since this day love them their trouble mix could have been done by the jbs if they were still twenty something and into house music… it rocks and never stopsno use to present the music from radio slave, the big difference with a majority of other producers is that we both can recognise his tracks in a few bars only, also in the way it streches to crazy length and takes you in a trance that could have come directly from lagos in 1973 matt embrace the same philosophy we all cherish at cassius records the no boundarys way hes more than minimal, more than electro more than techno he stripped down ystc to the max and his remix played at the good time on a good system is a true chicagoan infused gem then after chaos

a project from spain that was delayed cause we simply lost contact with the artists at the point of signing. the duo seemed to have strong bonds with a spanish clique of the notorious central american gang ms-13. sadly enough, the main producer is in lock-down for a crime committed in the us and therefor we never had the chance to finish this project. it will now be released (finally) as part of the limited when insanity slips in series with a handnumbered screened printed sleeve. the music is pure electronic chaos (think ultradyne). pure analog terror from a project that already ended before even getting signed.

dj rekless releases another stunning bassline ep for the undisputed label.

this new collaboration between two of cadenzas finest talents makes its official debut on mobilee with black shoes, a cut that pops, crackles, and snaps like youd never believe. dance floor ready yet unwilling to sacrifice an explicit focus on the details, black shoes pulsates with bass while suggesting a kind of lightness as whispered and fragmented voices hiss and murmur in the background. the melodics, which give off the feel of being in constant flux, provide a nice contrast to the intensely regularized bass drum while simultaneously meshing with the popping percussion that guide the track along its course. breakdowns filled with the sounds of static and 8-bit provide a nice experimental touch to this track that works equally well as a late-night romp as it does on the headphones. b-side speech also gives off a stuttered feel but is even more blippy and fragmented than its counterpart while migrating towards a more jacking vibe. brito and toro compliment this fractured sound with extensive use of vocal samples—both spoken and sung—that, while incomprehensible, lock in seamlessly with the overall feel of the track. melody here references both vintage sounds and traditional minimalism with the end result being a fusion of the two that is truly extraordinary.
